Fashion: throwback to the colder days

Hey guys, I have a bunch of outfit pictures that were taken months/weeks ago and I am uploading them all soon, but due to the delay, they are bit outdated in terms of weather so I apologise for that!

Anyway here’s an outfit I wore during the winter months:

I wore a warm and comfortable outfit of black jeans with a basic black and white stripy top, clothing items essential for everybody’s wardrobe. On top I wore my fur coat which I love and now miss wearing (it’s gone a lot warmer here in London!)

Shoes:

This outfit was worn before I bought my Doc Martens so here I can be seen wearing my burgundy Doc-inspired boots, which add gunge to the outfit and are very comfortable.

Jewellery:

I wore two rings, one on each hand. Meanwhile I added a triangle shaped statement necklace to add in dimension to the outfit.

Thank you Yasmin for taking the pics xx

Fashion: Happy Birthday Louise!

A post dedicated to one of my friends Louise whose birthday is today- hope you had a great day gurl xx

I love Louise’s fashion and her cute and creative outfits, especially this one:

imagelouise

a cute and seemingly effortless outfit is tied together by the 90s inspired light blue denim jacket, which especially highlights the casualness of this outfit by how it is in a bigger size.

However, my favourite part of the outfit is defo her shirt:

imagelouise2

It is such an adorable shirt! Not only is it unique with its milk carton design but it also looks put together and cute esp with it tucked in the skirt at waist level.

imagelouise3

The tennis skirt with its perfect pleats is very in trend right now and is an item much needed in every ones wardrobe- look how perfect it is!

Finally, the shoes:

Just a pair of comfortable cute pair of white shoes with a pretty design- perfect for everyday outfits.

Photographs: Washington D.C. 2015 (part 1)

This half-term, the long awaited History and Politics school trip (for years 12 and 13) to Washington D.C. finally came. We headed off to the capital city in the early hours of Saturday (14th Feb) and enjoyed our exploring until Thursday (19th Feb).

I absolutely loved my stay and learnt so much. Not only that, I made new friends and strengthened my friendships with my current ones and altogether shared a lot of laughs. The trip not only expanded my love for history and politics, but also reinforced my wish to study Politics at uni and my love for travel.

Despite the freezing cold, Washington was amazing and I really hope to visit it again some time in the future.

All in all, I took about 400+ pics! Therefore I have decided to split the photograph posts of this trip into three parts. For this blog, I have not included the personal pics and selfies of my friends and I and instead am posting the arty (I wish!) pictures/pictures of the monuments and sites we visited. This follows the trend of my previous photography blog posts.

Also, reminder that all pics were taken by me and that I am in no way a professional photographer- I took all the pics with my phone! So apologies if they are not up to your standard.

President Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States of America. He is one of the most famous and respected presidents and rightly so- he led America through the Civil War (1861-1865), a war fought between the northern states against the southern states over the issue of slavery. Among many achievements, Lincoln was the president who abolished slavery of African-Americans. Although the fight for complete slavery establishment, equal rights for African-Americans and the eradication of discrimination still had a long way to go, Lincoln started the fight for it, although racism and discrimination is still a huge issue today in America. However it came at a price. On April 14th 1865, Lincoln was shot in Ford’s theater by John Wilkes Booth, an actor and a Confederate sympathizer who was strongly against the establishment of slavery. Minutes after, the president was taken to the house opposite the theater where he died the next day.

The pictures of the stack of books represent the amount of books that have been written about him…he is the president who has had the most books written about!

(The lake was half frozen- that’s how cold it was!)

Next, we visited the memorial built for another amazing president- President Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd President of the USA. The monument is spread over 7.2 acres and has four sections to represent the four terms Roosevelt was president for.

The memorial features some of Roosevelt’s most famous quotes, including one referring to the New Deal, one of Roosevelt’s most known and successful policies. The memorial also includes statues depicting the struggles of the American people during the Great Depression of the 1930s (statue of a man listening to a radio but barefoot, another sculpture of men lining up for bread), a statue of the First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt who was a strong political diplomat and activist known for being one of Roosevelt’s key advisers and a statue of the president himself on a chair and his dog.

Although apparently wheels were added to the chair to represent a wheelchair, following controversy over whether Roosevelt should be portrayed with a wheelchair (he was disabled due to Polio) or on a chair like he was presented in the public. I personally believe that he should have been sculpted to be sitting in a wheelchair as it shows that disabled people are not weak, which was the wide belief during the time, hence why Roosevelt did not present his disability as it was seen as a weakness. Also, I believe it is wrong to not present Roosevelt in his wheelchair as it hides his disability which was one of the things which made him who he was. However the designers did make the memorial accessible to people with various disabilities and included columns with braille writing for the blind.

Much like Lincoln, Roosevelt rose in times of hardship- the Great Depression and then World War II making himself one of the most well-known and respected presidents.

Fashion: Colour KaPOW Continued

Hey everyone, following on the very vibrant and colourful fashion post yesterday I decided to continue on that theme with the feature of this outfit that I actually wore quire a few weeks ago. I never got around to posting it (like many others that I still have waiting!) but I thought it was the perfect time to now.

My outfit:

Top:

So of course the central piece of this outfit is the bright orange (appearing red-ish with the effect) cardigan. I really like this cardigan because of its cute, unique and eye catching colour. Also it’s tight-fitting and shows off my body better. To have the full effect of the tight-fitting aspect, I buttoned it all up and wore it with a white vest top underneath as opposed to having the buttons open.

Skirt:

image (53)

image (55)

Adding in even more cuteness to the outfit was my beloved skater skirt, in which I tucked my cardigan under.

Shoes:

IMG_4178

I wore my trusty pair of burgundy knee high boots over a pair of normal navy tights (the weather was a lot better back then). I love pairing knee high boots with skirts and dresses, especially skater types.

Jewellery (+ nail colour):

I wore this beautiful statement white necklace, along with my pandora ring and dark blue nails.

Shout out to Rita again!

Hey everyone!

This was my outfit to school today:

image (94)

Jumper and shirt:

image (87)

image (88)

I wore this flower patterned purple jumper on top of a light pink shirt. Although the combination is quite smart and preppy, the colour of the pattern still gives a different/alternative approach to the typical preppy look.

Trousers:

(sorry they’re not clear in these pics but you can see the trousers in the first pic!)

image (90)

image (89)

I wore another pair of this style of trousers, giving the outfit that smart look.

Shoes:

image (91)

Continuing the theme of preppiness/smartness, I wore these shiny black loafers with skin coloured ankle socks. They are almost school-girl like shoes!

Jewellery:

image (93)

I wore my Pandora ring like I do almost everyday, and I had some arm candy today- two dainty pretty bracelets.

image (95)

…And I wore this beautiful pair of earrings.

So for my fashion blog post today, I decided to do something new and decided to have the outfit of another person featured!

I loved the outfit my friend Heather was wearing, especially her beautiful and unique mustard coloured/yellow coat.

So…this was her outfit:

Coat and shirt:

My favourite piece is the amazing and eye drawing coat of hers. It’s not only unique as mentioned before, but it looks very warm and the structure of the coat is divine and fits her so well.

This with the cool and casual blue shirt contrast each other very well.

Trousers:

image (86)

Heather paired this outfit with a simple and classic pair of black jeans, again balancing the central piece (the coat) very well.

Shoes:

image (84)

I loved Heather’s shoes, they have such a classic look about them.

Fashion: The Unicorn Necklace…??

Hi guys!

This was an outfit I wore to school a few weeks ago:

IMG_4433

IMG_4441

The top:

IMG_4444

The top I wore was a white one, which I thought would go well with the patterned trousers. However, when looking closely you do see that the top has subtle swirly pretty patterns on it, and although not a crop top, the style of it does mean that it comes up just above the hip line. This again went well with the trousers as the trousers are able to come above the hip line.

The trousers:

IMG_4465

IMG_4493

I love these trousers as they are not only fashionable and quirky, but they’re also quire smart and so polish up the outfit very nicely.

Shoes:

IMG_4449

I chose to keep up the smart look of the trousers to reflect into my preppy tan coloured brogues, which I wore with ankle skin coloured tight-type socks.

Jewellery:

IMG_4452

I kept it simple with just wearing this beautiful jeweled necklace I received from my best friend, Kasthuri, for my 17th birthday 🙂

But because the necklace is so sparkly and big, I think it made up for the lack of jewellery overall. Also Rita (my friend and photographer said that the colours reminded her of unicorns haha so I named the post after her and her strange way of thinking 😉 )

((Alsoooooo you can see the details of the top in this close up)
